Delete your data
Carot is a tool merchants use to manage conversations with their own customers. This page explains how to request deletion of your data, and shows the status of a deletion request that already ran.
How to delete your data
- If you have a Carot account: go to Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. The account and its data are erased after a 30-day grace period in which you can still restore it; financial records (orders and payments) are kept because we must keep them for tax and dispute purposes.
- To disconnect only Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp: press Disconnect on the channel in Channels. To also erase the Facebook tokens and Page details we store, remove Carot from the apps and business integrations in your Facebook settings; Carot loses access right away. Facebook then lets you send Carot a data deletion request from the same place, and when it arrives we erase them automatically.
- If you cannot sign in: email us from the address on the account and we will carry out the request and reply within 5 business days.
What exactly is deleted
When Facebook sends us a data deletion request for a user, we erase everything their Facebook login produced: the user access token, the page access token, and the Page name and picture we cached — and the channel is disconnected. The merchant’s own business records (orders, customers, invoices) are not covered by that request, because they are not the requesting person’s data; to erase those, delete the account from Settings.
